The Oklahoma Bicycle Society is a cycling club dedicated to the promotion of bicycling as a safe and enjoyable outdoor activity. We actively support local, state and national programs which will benefit bicycling such as: Oklahoma City Bikeways, Lake Hefner Trails, Oklahoma Bicycle Coalition, The Scenic Trails System, The League of American Bicyclists and the Rails to Trails Conservancy.

In order to keep our members better informed about club events, we hold periodic meetings and publish a monthly newsletter, the PATHFINDER. We also provide an e-mail notification when you join.

Our members come from all walks of life and all levels of cycling experience, and they stand ready to share their vast body of knowledge with their fellow riders. Within the ranks of our membership, one can find expert advice on any subject from ride routes to equipment selection and from racing and touring to repair and maintenance.

The Oklahoma Bicycle Society sponsors a year-round program of weekly rides which range from slow-paced family outings to others which will test the abilities of the most experienced riders. Also, in order to maintain a high level of social cohesion of the membership, we sponsor a number of events which combine a short ride with a party or picnic.

OBS also sponsors an annual week-long tour which we call our Grand Tour (available to members only), and several weekend tours throughout the year.

For beginning riders, families or anyone who would just like to learn more about the club, we sponsor a get-acquainted ride each Saturday morning called the Donut Ride. Cyclists gather at the parking lot just south of the Will Rogers Park Tennis courts (East of Portland Ave. at NW 33d St.) and leave as a group at 9am. Experienced leaders guide the riders on a slow-paced tour along tree-lined residential streets and past the stately old homes in the Mesta Park and Heritage Hills sections of town. After a short rest at a local bakery, from which the ride got its name, we return via a different scenic route. All bicyclists are invited and encouraged to join us on this ride

Each member of the OBS has his own ideas of what constitutes a great cycling experience, but mostly we just like to get on our bikes and enjoy the fresh air and see what’s around the corner or over the next hill. If who we are and what we like sounds like something which you’d enjoy being part of, then please come ride with us
