Reservations Required
Walk-up bikes are free of charge during this service pilot, but reservations are required. Bike reservations can be made here at Amtrak.com, by calling 800-USA-RAIL (1-800-872-7245) and at Amtrak ticket offices. Passengers can also make reservations at the Oklahoma City station Quik-Trak ticketing kiosk. Bike reservations cannot be made through Amtrak mobile apps.
You must have a travel document (ticket) for your bike. You must also complete a baggage ID tag and attach it to your bike. If you are boarding at the Fort Worth station, you can obtain baggage ID tags at the ticket office. Passengers boarding at unstaffed stations will obtain bike tags from the onboard train crew. Passengers must present a photo ID when retrieving their bike.
This bike service pilot is limited to the stations on the route of the Heartland Flyer; if you are connecting with the Texas Eagle, call 800-USA-RAIL (1-800-872-7245) for fees and details.
Eligible Bikes
Only standard size bikes will be permitted. Each passenger may bring one bicycle. Large seat/saddle bags must be removed from the bikes. These items can be carried on the train and will count as a carry-on item.
Arrive Early
If you are checking a bike, you must arrive 30 minutes prior to your train's departure to allow sufficient time to obtain a ticket and baggage tag, and to get your bike to the baggage car.
Loading Bicycles
You must be physically capable of lifting your bike up to a station employee standing on a baggage cart or to the train crew at the baggage car door. Once in the baggage car, Amtrak personnel will store and secure your bike in the bike racks. Passengers will not be permitted in the baggage car.
