On June 16, 2003, then Governor Brad Henry declared July 19th as Fred Kamp Day in Oklahoma in honor of Fred’s dedication to OBS (he was one of the charter members) and, more specifically, to the Donut Ride. Fred led the Donut Ride faithfully for over 40 years, rarely missing a Saturday unless he was traveling out of town or in ill health. Fred was given an official proclamation document by the Governor himself. Fred retired from regularly leading the Donut Ride, but when able, he still showed up most every Saturday morning to help out by riding sweep until he went on to the Big Ride in the Sky in 2024.
Since 2003, OBS observes Fred Kamp Day every year on the Saturday closest to July 19th. We encourage everyone who has ridden the Donut Ride down through the years to be there if you can to honor Fred once again. If you have a Fred Kamp t-shirt or an OBS jersey, please wear it for the occasion.
Fred is no longer with us, but he has left an indelible impact on OBS, so we will continue to celebrate him and his dedication to OBS and the Donut Ride.

NOTE: There will be rides other than the traditional Donut Ride (which starts at Will Roger Park Tennis Center at 9:00 AM) that will converge on the east side of Scissortail Park for the celebration and free donuts. These rides will start from several locations and go at various paces. Watch the OBS Facebook Group for announcements about details for those rides.
